Yotsuba Face Expression Stamp

04 Jul 26 (4d ago)

I'm a fan of Yotsuba. It's the only manga that I read in its original language. This cheeky child brings me joy and way cheaper than therapy!

Anyway, once I got a 3D printer I was wondering if I can have a physical representation of yotsuba through a stamp?

Not quite elbarate but here are them.

Some stamps I printed using A1 Mini and Houdini. The images are from the manga. Post process (to be just black and white) then imported to the Houdini.

And I actually how do smooth it out too just oincrease the lines. realize that it doesn't realy transfer properly.

What I did right

  • Absolutely Houdini made everything easier. I just spent more time in a single set up then just swap and adjust parameters based on the current expression.

Things to improve

  1. use TPU. I'm using PLA on this one. And this doesn't really stick well. I did sand it. And it is much better than the raw print but still i have to press so hard so it works.
  2. An alternative of still using PLA is use a fine art ink pad like Versafin(?) since it is pigment based it will stick more compared to the cheap office ink pad.
