Manual Multi Color Printing

So far, the only multicolor printing that is worth your time is using multi tool head like U1 Snapmaker, Flashforge Creator 5 or the expensive X2C
multicolor. just cut it. haha no need to load and unload.
single color and just small prints. a1 mini is more than enough. i think it would be just too lacking if you print a lot by batch but for personal use. more than enough.
you can still multi print though you have slots just load nad unload the filament.
doing multi printing uses more waste and time anyway, unless you have a multi tool 3d printer like u1 snapmaker
its is also most fast. just the bed slinger a bit hard since it has to mve physically so taller objects will be problematic. that said never eally printed tall objecs and if it has i they are broken down in parts.

Let's talk about multicolor 3D printing. Honestly, right now, the only automated multicolor setups that truly respect your time are multi-toolhead or IDEX (Independent Dual Extruder) printers—think the Snapmaker U1, Prusa XL, or the Flashforge Creator series.
While single-nozzle systems with automatic material switchers (like the Bambu Lab X1C with AMS) are incredibly popular, they come with a massive catch: they generate a ton of plastic waste and add hours to your print time because the machine constantly has to cut, swap, and purge filament. Multi-toolhead printers bypass this waste, but they cost a fortune.
The "Just Cut It" Method
So, what's the best way to get multicolor parts without the headache? Just cut the model into pieces.
Instead of trying to print everything in one go, split your model in your slicer, print the individual parts in single colors, and glue them together later. There’s no need to constantly load and unload filament, it’s significantly faster, and it wastes zero material.
(Side note: You can still do manual multicolor on a standard printer by setting up a pause in your slicer at a specific layer height so you can swap the filament yourself. This works great for flat things like nameplates, but it's way too tedious for complex, 3D models).

The Verdict
Even with the introduction of multi-toolhead printers that cut multicolor printing time in half, there is a hard truth to swallow: buying two or three affordable, single-color printers is still cheaper and faster than buying one high-end multicolor machine. You can print all your different colored parts simultaneously across a few machines, assemble them, and have the finished product in your hands before an automated single-nozzle printer even finishes its purge tower.
